“A Serene Monk in a Restless Country” was filmed in Bogotá, Colombia and Tibetan in exile communities in India and Tibet. We witness how His Holiness the Dalai Lama navigates through unpredictable obstacles on his first visit to Colombia, a place of magical realism where things do not always go as planned. The film takes a look at the way the message of His Holiness resonates with people all over the world, and specifically how the sense of displacement that is part of the national identity of many people of Tibet and Colombia becomes a common ground of dialogue on this visit for a “simple monk” and the people who attend his talks and celebrate his message of peace and reconciliation.

This documentary is filled with moments of incredible beauty and humor. We are thrilled to announce that New York film-maker Lina Dorado will join us for a Q&A about her film after the viewing.
