Awakening the Heart of Enlightened Mind
An introduction to the training in bodhichitta
Sogyal Rinpoche encourages all of his students, regardless where they are on their spiritual path, to enter into the study and practice of the teachings on Lojong – “training or transforming the mind” and especially the Eight Verses for Transforming the Mind. This course provides a platform from which to enter the study and practice of Lojong and the Eight Verses, by giving a basis in, and introduction to, the training in bodhichitta. Bodhichitta, ‘the heart of the enlightened mind’, is the spirit, source and root of the entire spiritual path. The great Dzogchen master Patrul Rinpoche would explain the entire path of training in bodhichitta with this famous verse:
O sublime, precious bodhichitta,
May it arise in those in whom it has not arisen.
May it never decline where it has arisen,
But go on increasing further and further!
This course is based on Sogyal Rinpoche’s recent teachings on compassion and bodhichitta, and includes video selections of recent teachings by Sogyal Rinpoche and Patrick Gaffney together with guided meditations, personal reflection and group discussion.
